Chevron Valley Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of our members. In general, you can visit us on the World Wide Web without disclosing to us who you are or revealing  any information about yourself.  There are several areas, however, that will collect certain information about you, and we want you to know how we handle that information.

 

Cookies are electronic markers that are stored directly on the computer you are using to indicate activity or to access a specific web site or pages contained on a web site.  When you return to the web site, your browser will give that information back to the server.    

             

If you visit our website, Chevron Valley Credit Union uses cookies to collect and store information about the state of your session on our web site. As well, these cookies store your computer's configuration data and  the Internet address of the site from which you linked  directly to our web site, and the date and time of your visit. This cookie data is tied to your personally identifiable information to enable our service from your computer. This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the various pages on our site.

               

If you disable cookies on the computer you are using to access our web site, you will not be able to bank online with us. 

We do not encode your personally identifiable information in our cookies. However, if you send an e-mail, Chevron Valley Credit Union collects and stores personally-identifying  information in order to process your e-mail, form or application. This information is not sold to any third parties. Due to the volume of e-mail activity, these messages are deleted after they are answered or completed. Paper copies of these documents may be stored in a secure file.

                    

If you visit a secure site, such as home banking, you will be asked for personal identification numbers which will give you access to the member- only section of our website. This  information enables Chevron Valley Credit Union to regulate entry to the member-only portions  of our website and to measure member usage. Any identifying information gathered is used exclusively to fulfill your requested transaction and is not shared or sold to third parties.

If you do not interact with us when you browse our web site anonymously, we do not collect your personal information including your email address. We may, however, gather data that is not personally identifiable to you such as your length of user visit, number of hits and pages visited. This data helps us evaluate the usefulness of our web site.

                    

If you link to another site from any of our pages, you are leaving our site pages, and we cannot be held responsible for any information that may be gathered at a linked site. We make every effort, however, to ensure that all linked sites follow similar privacy policies as ours to offer you maximum security  and privacy.

The credit union is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of each member’s financial records consistent with state and federal laws. How We Protect Your Information
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose in using the data. Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We also maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with government regulations and industry practices to protect your nonpublic personal information.
 
Information We Collect about You
We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:
  • Information we receive on applications or other forms we receive from you such as your name, address, social security number, assets and income.
  • Information about your transactions with us, or others such as your account balances, loan payment history and credit card use.
  • Information we receive from a consumer credit reporting agency, including your creditworthiness and credit history.
  • Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on applications or other forms, such as from your current or past employers or from financial institutions where you conduct financial transactions. This information  may include your payment history or information concerning your transactions and income.
  • Information we may obtain from providers of marketing and/or demographic information such as your income and property ownership.
Parties Who Receive Information From Us

Under certain circumstances, we may disclose some or all of the information we collect.  For example, we disclose nonpublic personal information about you to companies that help us in administering and bringing you our products and services and to complete transactions through the U.S. payments system and to maintain accounts and related records (such as to our supplier of data processing services). The information shared with these companies typically includes information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct our operations, follow your authorized instructions or to protect the security of our financial records. These companies may include check and statement printing companies and data processing vendors.

We may also share information with companies who have a joint marketing agreement with us to offer you a broader array of products and services. Joint marketing agreements include confidentiality provisions to protect your information. These companies typically include financial service providers such as insurance companies, mortgage service companies and securities broker/dealers.

We may also share information with companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf such as businesses that send mailings on our behalf. We  may also share information with third parties when:

  • You request or authorize it.
  • The information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by you.
  • The information is provided to a consumer credit reporting agency in accord with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • The information is lawfully required or permitted to be disclosed.
To conduct normal business, the credit union may also disclose nonpublic member information to outside firms who supply critical services such as audit firms and attorneys retained by us, and to government regulators such as the National Credit Union Administration and the California Department of Financial Institutions.
 
Our member service commitment includes providing you with many choices of competitive products and services. To do this, we may form business relationships with outside firms and/or financial institutions that perform services in our behalf. To protect member privacy, we only work with firms and financial institutions that agree to maintain strong confidential protections and limit the use of the information we provide. We do not allow these firms and/or financial institutions to sell or distribute the nonpublic member information we provide.
 
If you decide to terminate your credit union membership, we will not share information about you except as permitted or required by law.
 
What You Can Do to Protect Your Privacy
Protect your account numbers, card numbers personal identification numbers (PINs) and passwords. Never keep your PIN with your credit or check/ATM card.
 
Use caution when disclosing your account numbers or social security number to others. If someone calls you claiming to represent the credit union, and asks for your account number, PIN or your password, beware. Official credit union staff will not ask for such information.
 
Keep your information with us current. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent activity or unauthorized use of your account(s), we will attempt to contact you immediately. If your address or phone numbers change, please let us know.
